OTTAWA – The Hon. Andrew Scheer, Conservative Shadow Minister for Infrastructure and Communities, and Luc Berthold, Conservative Shadow Minister for the Treasury Board, issued the following statement following the Parliamentary Budget Officer’s appearance at the Standing Committee on Transport, Infrastructure and Communities:

“The Liberal government’s infrastructure department is in shambles. The Parliamentary Budget Officer has confirmed that Minister Catherine McKenna cannot provide proof of almost 9,000 projects.

“Despite numerous requests over several years, the independent, non-partisan PBO testified that the government is still not able to provide them with that documentation.

“This is unacceptable. It is up to Justin Trudeau and his ministers to ensure their departments are functioning. How did they lose 9,000 projects?

“Canada’s Conservatives call on the Liberal government and Minister McKenna to immediately provide the relevant documents on the missing projects to the Parliamentary Budget Officer, the committee, and all Canadians.”
